Equipment Specialist Lead

The Equipment Specialist Lead plans the routine maintenance of and training aspects for equipment and develops strategies to improve overall reliability and safety of plant, personnel, and production processes. The Equipment Specialist Lead’s work goes beyond routine maintenance of production equipment into trouble-shooting and upgrades as required.  The Equipment Specialist is a mentor and resource for the Machine Operator and Maintenance positions.

Job Duties:
  • Onboards new equipment and leads the cross-functional team required to deliver, place, set-up equipment and utility needs, and program with Facilities, Color Management, and outside riggers and electricians for placement.
  • Acts as primary contact with equipment manufacturers.
  • Coordinates electrical, compressed air, ventilation, and networking for printing equipment.
  • Responsible for printing press quality, uptime, and maintenance including training and best practice.
  • Performs diagnoses of breakdown problems while minimizing equipment related downtime.
  • Performs advanced troubleshooting, including performing tests that determine equipment manufacturers’    diagnoses of complex problems, and assists in identifying needed parts ahead of the arrival of the Field Engineer.
  • May need to travel to assess new assets or attend OEM factory training.
  • Provides 24/7 phone support for Operators.
  • Records equipment conditions, frequent problems, and service actions.
  • Designs, plans and implements maintenance strategies, procedures and methods.
  • Orders all ink supplies and parts for printers.
  • Perform miscellaneous projects and complete various tasks as requested by others in management
Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Is efficient at multitasking, ensuring multiple complicated projects are being supported
  • Strong attention to detail and quality with high level of accuracy
  • Quickly adapt to changing priorities; ability to work in a fast paced environment
Experience Required:
  • 2 year degree or certificate from a vocational technical school
  • 3 years minim related experience in machine maintenance, preferably in a printing environment
  • Previous work experience performing training for operations staff preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.  Strong interpersonal skills including demonstrated listening skills and the ability to present ideas and thoughts concisely and effectively both internally and outside the organization.  
  • Is technically savvy, being proficient in or ready to learn Gmail, Google Docs, Excel, TBG Systems, various software and hardware.
  • Apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for handling tools, repairing machines and printing equipment and to review detailed reports and information
  • Ability to lift tools and equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Stand and walk to move around the plan area several hours throughout the day
  • Work extended hours as needed, including evenings and weekends to provide repair services as needed; is on call for 24/7

Shift hours:  M-F 6:45 am – 3:15 pm
Starting wage or wage range:  $25.00 per hour
