Digital Press Operator, Online

The Digital Press Operator, Online reviews the electronic customer files and layouts containing the necessary components from the customer or Prepress, and ensures prepress operations have been completed with regard to checking the files to ensure they are printable.  The Digital Press Operator then loads the files, produces the first article of inspection, validates artwork and print quality, and prints the job according to ticket specifications. They are responsible for machine conditions including color maintenance, daily and weekly maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Job Duties:
  • Ensures that files and layouts contain the necessary components and have been signed off by the designer and prepress operations to ensure quality file resolution.
  • Prepares and checks files to assure that they are printable.
  • Ensures files are imposed and stepped up to maximize yield of specified substrate and print device.
  • Prints files once all quality checks have been completed in accordance to the specifications on the job ticket.
  • Follows all TBG protocols and procedures according to Company standards.
  • Maintenance of print devices to ensure maximum quality output is achievable
  • Verify the condition of the print device performing a color test to ensure the machine is within spec.
  • Performs miscellaneous projects and tasks as requested by management.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Computer skills: experience with Google suites, Google sheets, Google docs,  Google drive, Gmail.
  • Basic math skills; accuracy with counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, etc. Ability  to read a tape measure.
  • Mechanical aptitude. 
  • Ability to learn and follow directions.Communicate effectively with team members as issues arise. Be comfortable asking for help when needed.  
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting. 
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Quickly adapt to changing priorities; requires ability to switch priorities and focus on what tasks need to be completed by the end of the workday. 
  • Willing to put forth the extra effort and time in order to meet customer expectations. 
  • Capable of working in a high paced environment.
Experience Required:
  • High School or GED degree required, Associates Degree in Art, Printing, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of operating small and large format prepress experience in the printing industry required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.  Strong interpersonal skills including demonstrated listening skills and the ability to present ideas and thoughts concisely and effectively both internally and outside the organization.
  • Ability to stand up to 12 hour shifts. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; push, pull, bend, stoop and reach as needed throughout the day.
  • Move around the plant and office areas repeatedly throughout the day.

Shift hours:  M-F 6:45 am – 3:15 pm
Starting wage or wage range:  $18.00 per hour
