Technician
Starting Wage Range: $21.56-$23.89
Machines, tool, and equipment used:
Grinder, Hand Tools, Hoses, Air Gauge, Vice, Drill Press, Carts, Tool Box, Flashlight, Ladders, Computer, A Frame, Hoist/Power Truck, Jacks, Weave Machine, Inspection Frames, Wrenches
Materials Used:
Paper products, Tape, Rubber Bands, Paper Clips, Pen/Pencil, Lab Chemicals, Glue, Wire, Cleaning Solution, Loom Control Card, Brushes, Oil, Pipe Cleaner, Tie Straps, Light Bulbs, Paint, Shop Towels, Grease
Job Requirements:
Ability to read & write, Comprehend written & verbal instructions, Good organizational skills, Ability to perform various computer operations, Ability to prioritize tasks, Ability to work in a team environment, Basic math skills, Good visual perception, Good interpersonal relationship skills
2 years above High School Education/Training – Preferred
Other Requirements:
Must submit to & pass a drug screen. Must comply with all company rules, including but not limited to: safety, attendance & other job specifications
Physical Requirements:
Standing – Perform daily work on plant machinery, to replace parts as needed for different styles, to view computer & input information, to perform “smash” work & to prepare paper work for reports, must be able to stay of feet for duration of a 12 hr. shift. Accounts for approx. 30% of the skill requirement
Sitting – Performed daily to attend meetings, to peg new pattern changes, to replace harnesses, to install new pattern chains, to change machine settings under machine & on jet side & dobby, to build pattern changes, to align take-up gears & belts, to clean inside take-up & do paperwork. Accounts for approx. 25% of the skill requirement
Moving – Usually in the form of walking to perform routine check on equipment, to make machine changes, to walk to supply room to retrieve parts, to walk to parts rebuild area to retrieve parts, to walk to meetings. Must be able to move freely in a weave catwalk 16” wide. Accounts for approx. 40% of the skill requirement
Climbing – Performed 2-3 times daily to climb a maximum of 18 steps to the gantry to work on head of machines. Use step ladders to work on overhead items & to operate power equipment. Accounts for approx. 10% of the skill requirement
Lifting – Up to 25 lbs. To handle hand tools, equipment, to handle hoist, to left hold down bars, to left filling yarn pkgs, to use hand light, to handle tubes & moving various machine parts. Performed 150-160 times daily & accounts for 10% of the skill requirement.
Pushing/Pulling – Performed 60-70 times daily to use hand tools, to move hand cars/buggies, to open/close gates/cabinets/drawer/doors/& to move chain operated doors. Must be able to push oiler, battery grease gun & pull various lever & handles on equipment. Accounts for 15% of skill requirement
Reaching – Must be able to reach freely to work on plant equipment, to draw ends as needed, to open/ close file drawers, to get tools & equipment, to make machine changes, to replace pattern chain, to retrieve supplies. Also work on machine rollers. Performed numerous times accounts for 15% of skill requirement
Visual Acuity – Normal vision required
Bending/Stooping – Performed 150-200 times daily to work on machinery, to work on samples, to pick up tools & supplies to work on “smashes”, to get material from the toolbox, to work on dobbies & to make machine changes. Accounts for 15% of skill requirement.
Other – Must be able to hear for person to person communication & emergency alarms
Safety Equipment Required – Hearing protection, safety shoes, apron, rubber gloves, safety goggles (when using compressed air)
