Introduction

A
machine operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining
machinery used in the manufacturing process.
Machine operators will work on an
individual and team basis. Machine operators will deliver consistent work and
report accurate information on a timely basis. To be successful in this
position the individual must be able to produce timely and high-quality output
within the company’s quality and production standards. Individuals must display
a standard level of productivity and quality output and be committed to
continuous improvement.
Essential Functions
- Prepare machinery for operation by performing routine maintenance tasks and conducting safety checks to ensure that the equipment is in good working condition.
- Set up and operate production machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
- Monitor machines during operation to ensure that they are producing products that meet quality standards.
- Conduct regular in-process inspections to ensure quality control standards.
- Troubleshoot equipment and make necessary adjustments to fix any issues that arise during the production process.
- Record data such as production numbers, machine settings, and product quality data.
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to the proper use of PPE to ensure a safe working environment for themselves and other employees.
- Consistently meet production requirements.
- Continuously work in a safe manner and maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Follow company rules and guidelines.
- Comply with cross-training and other training requirements.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
To be successful as a machine operator, candidates should
have a good understanding of manufacturing processes, be mechanically inclined,
and possess a strong attention to detail. They should also be able to read and
interpret work instructions and can work independently as well as part of a
team. Other skills and abilities include:
- Physical stamina and dexterity are also important qualities as the job involves standing for long periods and performing repetitive tasks.
- Ability to speak and read English effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret gauges and record measurements.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets), operating and maintenance instructions, and any relevant manuals.
- Ability to stand for an 8–10-hour shift.
- Prior experience preferred but not required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management capabilities.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Able to meet attendance expectations.
- Able to work overtime shifts.
- Able to maintain a professional, positive attitude.
- Must be able to successfully pass e-Verify background check.
- Complete other duties/projects as required and/or assigned.
- Must be able to learn and manufacture high quality output and meet minimum production requirements and perform all related work instructions accurately within training period.
- Must be able to learn all manufacturing units, and willing to train others as needed.
