Material Handler


Position Overview
This role responsible is responsible for receiving, moving, staging, and controlling inventory of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods in a nicotine manufacturing plant. The role ensures materials are handled safely, stored properly, and accurately documented in compliance with GMP, EHS, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely receive, stage, and transport raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods within the plant.
  • Move materials to and from production lines, warehouses, and storage areas.
  • Operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts) according to safety standards and certifications.
  • Load and unload shipments from trucks, trailers, or containers.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper documentation in ERP or inventory management systems.
  • Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Ensure proper storage, rotation, and labeling of materials according to GMP and company requirements.
  • Report shortages, overages, or damaged materials to supervisors.
  • Follow all EHS, GMP, and company safety policies.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Participate in safety training and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, logistics, production, and quality teams.
  • Assist in maintaining efficient workflow and material availability for production.
  • Support onboarding or training of new material handling staff.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or vocational training in manufacturing, industrial technology, or chemical processing preferred.
  • 1–3 years of material handling, warehouse, or inventory control experience preferred.
  • Experience working with automated or semi-automated process equipment a plus.
Skills
  • Knowledge of material handling practices and inventory management.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment safely (forklifts, pallet jacks, carts).
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Ability to follow instructions and standard procedures.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to handle small parts and tools.
  • May require wearing PPE (hairnets, gloves, respirators) and working in cleanroom or nicotine-controlled environments.
  • Exposure to powdered nicotine and flavors; must be comfortable with handling regulated substances in accordance with safety protocols.
Work Schedule
  • Full-time, may include evening, night, weekend, or rotating shifts based on operational needs.
