Material Handler
Position Overview
This role responsible is responsible for receiving, moving, staging, and controlling inventory of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods in a nicotine manufacturing plant. The role ensures materials are handled safely, stored properly, and accurately documented in compliance with GMP, EHS, and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely receive, stage, and transport raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods within the plant.
- Move materials to and from production lines, warehouses, and storage areas.
- Operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts) according to safety standards and certifications.
- Load and unload shipments from trucks, trailers, or containers.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper documentation in ERP or inventory management systems.
- Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliation.
- Ensure proper storage, rotation, and labeling of materials according to GMP and company requirements.
- Report shortages, overages, or damaged materials to supervisors.
- Follow all EHS, GMP, and company safety policies.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Participate in safety training and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with warehouse, logistics, production, and quality teams.
- Assist in maintaining efficient workflow and material availability for production.
- Support onboarding or training of new material handling staff.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical or vocational training in manufacturing, industrial technology, or chemical processing preferred.
- 1–3 years of material handling, warehouse, or inventory control experience preferred.
- Experience working with automated or semi-automated process equipment a plus.
Skills
- Knowledge of material handling practices and inventory management.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment safely (forklifts, pallet jacks, carts).
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Ability to follow instructions and standard procedures.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to handle small parts and tools.
- May require wearing PPE (hairnets, gloves, respirators) and working in cleanroom or nicotine-controlled environments.
- Exposure to powdered nicotine and flavors; must be comfortable with handling regulated substances in accordance with safety protocols.
Work Schedule
- Full-time, may include
evening, night, weekend, or rotating shifts based on operational needs.
