Machining Technician


Summary Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receives material and loads material onto machining center per procedures
  • Uses various types of measuring instruments; replaces tooling at the machine
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications per written processes and procedures
  • Recommends process improvements with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems
  • Ensures work area, machine, tooling and parts are cleaned regularly and free from excess oil deposits
  • Verifies correct tools against tool sheet and program 
  • Notifies supervisor of any issues 
  • Maintain proper coolant and lubricant levels and concentrations
  • Empty chip hoppers at required intervals
  • Shows exceptional teamwork
  • Very good communication skills
  • Attention to detail

                      Education, Experience and Requirements:

                      • High School diploma or equivalent 
                      • U.S. Citizenship
                      Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
                      Mechanical aptitude. Ability to use measuring tools. Knowledgeable in all aspects of job clearance.  

                      Reasoning Ability:
                      Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

                      Mathematical Skills:
                      Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements.  

                      Language and Communication Skills:
                      Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above.  Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management.  Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.

                      Physical Demands:
                      The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required sit; use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. To bend frequently and lift 40 lbs on a regular basis.

                      Vision Requirements:
                      Visual acuity is necessary to do the job safely and effectively. 

                      Starting pay for this position is $16 per hour.
