Knowledge:
Thorough knowledge of:
- The principles and practices of installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems and equipment;
- The tools and equipment used in installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems and equipment;
Working knowledge of:
- The National Electrical Code.
Ability to:
- Install, repair and maintain a variety of electrical systems and equipment;
- Trace and identify causes of electrical failures or malfunctions and restore to approved operating standards;
- Plan and modify circuitry paths;
- Read, interpret and work from blue prints, schematic diagrams, plans and specifications;
- Maintain accurate records of work assigned and prepare reports under supervision;
- Assists in determining work methods and types of materials to be used;
- Maintain a safe working environment;
- Lift and carry tools and equipment as needed;
- Work in an aerial lift as needed;
- Estimate materials and costs of electrical installations and repairs;
- Maintain accurate records of work assigned and prepare reports;
- Supervise workers assigned to assist.
Training and Experience: Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the knowledge and abilities, is qualifying, unless otherwise specified. Typical ways to obtain these knowledge and abilities would be:
Completion of an apprenticeship program as an electrician and certification as such from the Apprenticeship Standards Division of the State of California Industrial Relations Department.
OR
Five years full-time, or its equivalent, progressively responsible experience in commercial or industrial electrical work.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License. Note: Candidates with an out of state license may apply and go through recruitment and examination process, however verification of California License must be provided at time of appointment.
Background Investigation: Fingerprinting is required.
