Appointment Type, Duration and Location
Temporary exempt as-needed appointment not to exceed six (6) months or 1040 hours. Exempt employees are considered “at will” and serve at the discretion of the appointing officer. Currently, we have one open position at Moccasin, California located in Tuolumne County (approx. 140 miles southeast of San Francisco, in the Sierra Foothills). This is a five-hour daily commute from the San Francisco Bay Area, longer during winter weather. Future as-needed positions in Class 2706 Housekeeper for Moccasin will also be filled from this applicant pool. We will keep all qualified applications on file for one year.
Under general supervision, the 2706 Housekeeper performs a variety of cleaning and housekeeping duties in connection with the maintenance of quarters for lodgers and guests at the Hetch Hetchy project; and performs related duties as required.
Essential functions include general cleaning; the making of beds and the changing, sorting and washing of bed linens; determining the need for cleaning supplies and requesting them; replenishing soap and sanitary supplies; and performing light food preparation duties in additional to serving meals. Appointees will be required to drive to remote locations in the course of performing their duties.
Examples of Important and Essential Duties
When assigned to quarters at Hetch Hetchy, the 2706 Housekeeper will:
1. Sweeps and mops bathrooms, hallways and other rooms daily; dusts furniture, empties wastepaper baskets; makes beds; changes bed linens; sorts and counts soiled linens.
2. Washes toilets, bathtubs and shower stalls daily; washes tables, stoves, refrigerators and sinks in kitchens; washes shelves, cleans cupboards, pots and pans; washes kitchen floors, cleans tile work.
3. May perform general cleaning and light food preparation duties; assisting in the preparation and serving of meals, washing dishes and cleaning silverware; replenishing supplies, as needed.
4. Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: methods, materials, and supplies used in cleaning and housekeeping work.
Ability to: perform repetitive manual cleaning tasks without continuous supervision; follow oral and written instructions.
Skill in: the use of electric cleaning appliances; preparing and serving meals; interacting courteously and effectively with facility residents, customers, and personnel at assigned work location.
1. One (1) year of verifiable experience in cleaning at a food court or restaurant; or one (1) year of verifiable institutional experience in general cleaning and housekeeping; or an equivalent amount of training and experience AND
2. Possession of a current, valid Class C driver’s license. For positions at Hetch Hetchy, possession of a valid Driver’s License required. Positions at Hetch Hetchy will be required to drive in inclement weather and on mountain roads. (Verification of license required before appointment)
