Under direction, the 3532 Program Manager, KALW Radio is responsible for implementing station program and policy developed by the General Manager, KALW Radio Station, in accordance with School District and FCC guidelines. Under direction, coordinates and manages information related to broadcast programming of radio station KALW; coordinates the station’s publicity efforts; and performs related duties as required.
Important and Essential Duties:
- Coordinates the distribution of programming, event, and sponsorship information to on-air staff, and to the public via KALW’s website, e-newsletter and program guide.
- Oversees weekly programming and traffic meetings, and distributes information from those meetings to on-air and engineering staff.
- Creates program traffic logs; schedules underwriting credits, program promotion, and fundraising promotion.
- Edits copy for underwriting and sponsorship credits; communicates with underwriters and community partners as necessary. Produces invoices for underwriters on a monthly basis.
- Reviews station logs and discrepancy reports.
- Updates playlists in the station’s radio automation system on an occasional basis as necessary.
Requires a comprehensive knowledge of:
- The principles and practices of broadcast operations and production techniques.
- Program sources and distribution technologies.
- Traffic and promotion for radio.
- FCC policies, guidelines, and regulations.
Requires ability to:
- Write effectively for radio, on-line and in publicity materials; build systems for information management and distribution; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
