PROJECT NAME: Power Enterprise Communications and Branding Support
Project Description: The Power Communications team works across CleanPowerSF and Hetch Hetchy Power programs, and we are responsible for customer notifications, public events, social media, traditional media, community engagement, marketing, advertising, and other diverse functions. The 1312 Public Information Officer will create content, manage logistics, and perform analytical functions to support the entire Power Enterprise.

The SFPUC is expanding access to clean energy for all San Franciscans through its CleanPowerSF and Hetch Hetchy Power programs. We currently serve about 80% of the electricity demand in San Francisco and we are looking for a detail-oriented, well-organized marketing and communication specialist to help us retain customers, communicate and market key program elements, create information and education materials, conduct market research, and provide work with our customers and stakeholders.
Create and maintain a content calendar for SFPUC energy initiatives. Develop content for SFPUC newsletters, provide updates for stakeholders’ and partners’ content platforms (i.e., Board of Supervisors bulletins, neighborhood blogs, and advocates’ newsletters).
Create copy for marketing collateral and advertising campaigns, contribute to strategic planning initiatives.
Conduct analyses and create reports on marketing and communications efforts using Excel, Salesforce, Eventbrite, Google Analytics, Microsoft Dynamics (MS Dynamics), and other analysis tools.
Reorganize, rewrite, and maintain Power Enterprise content for the SFPUC, including CleanPowerSF program website and SFPUC’s Power web section.
Manage schedules and logistics for SFPUC booths and tables at a wide variety of events including fairs, festivals, movie screenings, informal education, receptions, corporate events, and neighborhood group presentations.
Serve as a spokesperson for the SFPUC Power Enterprise (including CleanPowerSF, renewable energy projects, energy efficiency initiatives, energy service on Treasure Island and in Hunters Point Shipyard and the City’s streetlights) to media, neighborhood groups, City departments, advisory committees, and other key stakeholders.
Be the “voice” of Power at the SFPUC by producing content for Twitter, Facebook, NextDoor, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms.

1. Requires possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public relations, journalism, English, mass communications, public administration, public policy or a related field. AND
2. Requires two (2) years of professional experience in public affairs, public information, editorial, newspaper, magazine, radio, television, public relations social media, digital engagement, advertising or similar work involving collection and dissemination of news and information wherein the preparation or direction of informational material for mass media on the development of public information program was a major part of the position.
Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of 2 years). Thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units equal one year.
Possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in public relations, journalism, mass communications or a closely related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.

Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Proficient with web and print authoring tools such as Adobe Acrobat, WordPress, etc.
Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems such as Salesforce’s Marketing Cloud or MS Dynamics
Experience using social media platforms for professional purposes
Interest in clean energy, sustainability, and the environment
Experience performing support for a public awareness, outreach, or education program
