Appointment Type: Temporary Exempt (Category 18). In accordance with San Francisco Charter Section 10.104, exempt employees serve at the discretion of the appointing authority. The duration is up to one year. The qualified applicant pool resulting from this recruitment may be utilized to fill exempt vacancies at various locations within DPH.
The City and County of San Francisco COVID Command Center (CCC) is transitioning to a long-term staffing model, and we need your help to fill critical positions. We are hiring temporary (up to 12 month) positions to continue and standardize the work performed in our initial disaster response. Shift and location are subject to change depending on the needs of the department- may include weekends.
Under direction, performs difficult and complex tasks associated with one or more health programs. Essential job functions include but are not limited to:
Coordinates the development of various health services and programs and the planning, execution and evaluation of the work of the facilities, agencies or community groups with which they work;
Initiates plans and assignments, and reviews the regular and special work of assigned staff; trains, instructs and evaluates members of this staff as necessary;
Coordinates activities, develops and implements systems to be used, initiates policy and plans overall operations; assesses and determines goals and priorities;
Maintains liaison with outside agencies and their departments/programs to render advice on program policies, seek improvement in facilities and activities and performs other important liaison functions;
May serve as Director of a specialized service of the facility; responsible for the planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling the particular service;
May conduct a program to develop effective training techniques related to the various phases of community health activities; plans course of study, implements it and evaluates its effectiveness; and
May represent the administration at high level meetings, conferences, and seminars.
The 2593 Health Program Coordinator 3 performs related work as required and/or assigned.
1. Education: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; AND
2. Experience: Three (3) years of professional level administrative or management experience with primary responsibility for overseeing, monitoring, and/or coordinating a program providing health and/or human services.
Note: Clerical, recordkeeping, scheduling, case management, class instruction/training, health education and direct client service experience is not qualifying experience.
Professional experience is defined as an individual that interprets laws and regulations and exercises independent judgement in the application of defined principles, practices, and regulations.
Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis. Thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter units equal one year.
Possession of a Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Health Administration, Health & Human Services or closely related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
One (1) year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a forty (40) hour work week). Any overtime hours that you work above forty (40) hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
