Under direction, reviews building construction plans and specifications for compliance with grading standards, building codes, and ordinances; and does related or other work as required in accordance with Rule 3, Section 3 of the Civil Service Rules.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This is the journey-level class in the Plan Check Engineer series. An incumbent in this class is responsible for performing the full scope of building plan review and field inspection work, including the more complex assignments, and assuring that plans requiring County permits comply with applicable statutes, ordinances and codes.
This class differs from the class of Plan Check Engineer I because the latter is the entry-level class where incumbents perform a narrower range of plans examining work that primarily involves reviewing the more routine building construction plans and specifications. Positions in this class are typically multi-allocated with Plan Check Engineer I and incumbents at the Plan Check Engineer I level may be eligible to promote to Plan Check Engineer II when they meet the established requirements.
