DEFINITION

This is a part-time and/or temporary position assigned to County parks and facilities. Under general supervision this position performs grounds and building clean up and general maintenance in county parks and facilities; and does other related work as assigned

TYPICAL DUTIES

  • Empties garbage cans and picks up litter and debris from park grounds and park facilities
  • Cleans park buildings, including restrooms; operates cleaning equipment such as floor cleaners, buffers, and vacuums
  • Sets up and takes down furniture for facility events
  • Assists Park Workers in irrigation system repair and operation; digs holes and trenches
  • Assists Park Worker in general grounds maintenance using a variety of equipment such as backpack blowers, trimmers, edgers
  • May operate pick-up truck and scooter

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Licenses: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s license.

KNOWLEDGE

General practices used in park grounds and facilities.

ABILITY

Follow oral and written instructions; perform a wide variety of grounds and facilities maintenance work; use tools and operate equipment used in park maintenance and facility cleanup; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Mobility-Frequent standing for long periods; frequent walking; frequent pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, crawling; occasional driving; occasional climbing ladders; Lifting-Frequent lifting of 5 to 70 lbs.; Visual-Frequent overall vision, color perception, eye/hand coordination, depth perception, and peripheral vision; Dexterity-Frequent holding, reaching, grasping; occasional repetitive motion and writing; Hearing/Talking-Constant hearing normal speech; frequent hearing and talking on telephone/radio; constant talking in person; occasional talking over public address; Emotional/Psychological-Constant public contact, occasional heights, occasional hazardous materials; occasional working alone, frequent working weekends/nights; occasional overtime; Environmental Conditions-Occasional noise, dirt, dust, smoke, outdoor cold, heat, and rain.
