This is a temporary/part-time position. Under immediate supervision, does routine clerical work of limited difficulty following well established procedures, and does related or other work as required.
This position is established for routine clerical work of limited difficulty and the work may be temporary or part-time depending on the needs of the department. Assignments may be temporary, project based or seasonal in nature, or part-time to meet routine clerical tasks that help meet departments’ needs.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Receives, opens, sorts, time stamps, routes and weighs mail; addresses, stuffs and seals envelopes; affixes and records postage.
Sorts and files correspondence, forms, records, reports, documents, and other materials alphabetically, numerically, or by other predetermined classifications; retrieves material from files; prepares files for storage.
Performs routine tallying or checking tasks; makes routine notations on a variety of records; assembles booklets, reports, and other office materials.
Operates various types of standard business machines for which previous training or experience is not required; may receive training in the operation of specialized office machines such as copiers, scanners, and computers.
Makes simple arithmetic calculations.
Picks up, delivers, and distributes various intra- and inter-office items such as memos, messages, and supplies.
Greets those entering the office, answers telephone and takes and transmits messages; may furnish routine information.
Assists in proofreading typewritten material; may type short items, labels, lists, and basic memos.
KNOWLEDGE
Basic punctuation, spelling, and grammar; basic arithmetic; basic filing and recordkeeping system; standard language mechanics; general office practices and procedures; computers and standard office equipment.
