The Family Health Services Division of the Health and Social Services Department is currently recruiting for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.

 

The mission of Family Health Services (FHS) is to provide superior, comprehensive, primary medical and dental care in order to improve the health and quality of life of Solano County residents. We have a special commitment to the uninsured, low-income, and medically underserved. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we are a safety net provider. To support our mission, FHS offers four conveniently located clinics in Fairfield, Vacaville, and Vallejo and mobile medical and dental vans in which we provide primary care and dental services. The outpatient primary care clinics see patients five days a week, with some weekend and evening hours offered.

 

Our Services: We understand that our services need to be as diverse as the population that we serve. To accommodate this diversity, we provide services including:

  • STD/HIV testing & treatment
  • Work/School/Sports physicals
  • Women’s health services
  • Behavioral health care

  • Family centered dental care

We also serve as a teaching facility for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.

The Position

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant functions at an expanded level of responsibility by utilizing services of the nurse practitioner or the physician assistant within the framework of mutually established medical protocols and guidelines.  Under the general direction of a physician, Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants assess and diagnosis medical needs of ambulatory and medical clinic patients, develop and implement treatment and intervention plans and evaluate patient's progress.  They also conduct education/referral; case management; health promotion; disease prevention; community outreach; and medication administration. 

The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur throughout the County.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Nurse Practitioner:

  • Current California Registered Nurse License, and
  • Current California Nurse Practitioner Certification, and
  • Current Nurse Practitioner National Certification

Physician Assistant:

  • Current California Physician Assistant License  

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS  

  • Current Adult, Child, and Infant CPR Certificate
  • Current Controlled Substance Registration Certificate from the Drug Enforcement Administration
  • Based on assignment, a valid California Driver’s License, Class C

BENEFITS

Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage for the 2018 calendar year is $1,520.73 per month.  The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage. The County may offer a supplemental contribution for employees enrolled in Employee plus Two or More coverage.  

Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.

Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.

The County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year. 

Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per years for the first 3 years. 

Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year.  

Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years.

  • Limited night and weekend patient schedules.
  • Employees are granted up to 30 hours of Continuing Education Days per year for continuing education requirements (prorated for part-time).

Additional benefits Solano County currently provides through an agreement with Partnership HealthPlan of California:

  • $10,000 stipend for a 12-month minimum employment commitment.

Extra-help employees who work less than 29 hours per week do not typically receive or accrue benefits of regular employees during their period of employment. All extra-help employees accrue .034 hours of Paid Time Off for every full hour worked.

Selection Process

For Nurse Practitioner: A valid California Registered Nurse License, California Nurse Practitioner Certificate, and National Nurse Practitioner Certificate is required for this position. Veterans Preference Points

To be eligible, applicant must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions.  A COPY OF THE DD 214, SHOWING DISCHARGE TYPE (GENERALLY COPY 4), MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT BY THE FINAL FILING DATE.  Applicants who have a service connected disability must also submit a recent award letter from the VA stating they are receiving disability benefits for service connected reasons.
