Solano County's Behavioral Health mission is to provide mental health services and support in Solano County that are person-centered, safe, effective, efficient, timely and equitable, that are supported by friends and community, that promote wellness/recovery, and that fully incorporate shared decision making between consumers, family members and providers.
Solano County Behavioral Health dedicates itself to the care of Solano residents to help them remainin the community so that they can progress in their recovery and benefit from natural supports, avoiding institutionalization. Behavioral Health provides psychiatric services to Solano Community in an integrated health care environment in three adult and child outpatient clinics located in Vallejo, Fairfield, and Vacaville.

The Mental Health Clinician (Registered) is the professional intern level classification which provides mental health treatment services for mental, emotional and co-occurring disorders, including substance abuse and/or developmental disability and chemical dependency disorders in inpatient or outpatient settings, including assessment, diagnosis, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, non-medical psychotherapy, and initiation of involuntary holds; provides and oversees both treatment and continuing care; prepares reports and maintains records related to client or client services.
The Mental Health Clinician (Registered) is a professional intern level classification in which incumbents must possess a Marriage, Family Therapist Intern or an Associate Clinical Social Worker License. Work is performed within the limits of licensing and professional standards. Clinicians use established clinical methods and procedures for client assessment, planning and implementation of treatment plans, and non-medical psychotherapy. Clients served suffer from serious and persistent emotional, mental and/or substance abuse problems. The work is performed in accordance with the requirements as mental health professionals with certain decisions and actions requiring sign-off by licensed staff.
The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur or the need arises.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
No experience required.
Possession of a Master’s degree in a field of study approved by the California State Board of Behavioral Science Examiners; AND
Acceptance by the California State Board of Behavioral Science Examiners as a candidate for licensure (registered intern/associate) as either a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (MFTI) or Associate Licensed Clinical Social Worker (ALCSW). Note: Failure to obtain such required license within the legally specified timelines or loss of State registration shall result in termination or reassignment, if such a vacancy exists and the incumbent meets the minimum requirements for the vacant position. (Such action will be taken in accordance with Civil Service Commission rules).

Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage for the 2021 calendar year is $1,586.60 per month. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage. The County may offer a supplemental contribution for employees enrolled in Employee plus Two or More coverage.
Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.
Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.
Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 3 years.
Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year.
The County observes 12 full day fixed and 2 half day fixed paid holidays per year. Additionally, employees in this bargaining unit receive 2 floating paid holidays per year.
Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years.

Extra-help employees who work less than 29 hours per week do not typically receive or accrue benefits of regular employees during their period of employment. All extra-help employees accrue .034 hours of Paid Time Off [Represented] Sick Leave [Unrepresented] for every full hour worked.

To be eligible, applicant must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions. A COPY OF THE DD 214, SHOWING DISCHARGE TYPE (GENERALLY COPY 4), MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT BY THE FINAL FILING DATE.
