This is technical work involving digitization activities. Bargaining unit position.
Nature Of Work
An employee in this class is responsible for performing scanning activities of average difficulty, which include operation and maintenance of a variety of scanners including microfilm conversion scanners. Tasks are performed under general supervision requiring the employee to exercise some initiative and independent judgment. Work might require heavy lifting and standing for extended periods of time. Work is reviewed by observation while in progress and from results obtained.
Examples of Duties
Uses
computer programs and operates variety of equipment such as desktop scanners,
wide format scanners, and microfilm scanners.
Makes
sure that documents are prepared for scanning by including starting and ending
documents; removing staples and taping torn pages; placing documents in the
correct file order.
Inspects
all equipment periodically; checks maintenance schedules and determines repairs
when necessary; completes daily a production control log which will be used to
compile a monthly report.
Provides
quality assurance and checks for errors.
Performs
related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Working
knowledge of: methods, procedures, practices, and equipment
used in digitization; the operation, adjustment, and maintenance of scanning
equipment.
Ability to: maintain filing systems; learn the operation
and maintenance of scanning equipment; perform work requiring physical strength
and endurance; establish and maintain effective working relationships
with others.
Skill in: operation and maintenance of scanning
equipment and various computer programs.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 40-60 lbs., mostly sitting and standing; a
combination of working indoors and outdoors. Requires the use of computer,
typing and viewing a monitor.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation
from an accredited high school or vocational school and one (1) year in
scanning and/or records management experience; or an equivalent combination of
training and experience.
Examination
Evaluation
of education and experience. Drug testing is included in all
pre-employment processing.
Comments
Employees
may be required to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays
and overtime as needed. During periods when the Mayor issues an emergency
declaration for the City of Tampa, all employees may be required to work in
preparation, response or recovery activities related to the stated emergency.
