Performs preflight check/inspection of every aircraft utilized during previous shifts, including visual, lights and fluids check; addresses pilot concerns; performs appropriate maintenance.
Accompanies pilots on test flights to determine/detect problems.
Inspects aircraft and equipment periodically to determine need for repair; locates, repairs, and reconditions aircraft engines, airframes and other standard or specialized aircraft equipment.
Performs preventative maintenance on rotary wing engines and air frames; tunes engines; makes repairs and adjustments as required.
Monitors flight times on each aircraft to plan scheduled maintenance and inspection times.
Maintains aircraft parts and equipment inventory; orders parts from various vendors/suppliers; reorders parts as necessary; handles shipping of aircraft parts or equipment for repair.
Performs maintenance of the aircraft shop and equipment and limited maintenance of the aircraft hangar; performs maintenance of some non-aircraft equipment, such as aircraft tugs.
Maintains repair logs for aircraft; researches records for time change items; prepares and submits reports as required.
Prepares all inspection paperwork, assembles necessary parts and tools; creates checklist for inspection packages prior to doing required maintenance/inspection.
Performs related work as required.
Considerable knowledge of: standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the aircraft mechanic trade; mechanics of rotary wing engines, airframes, and equipment.
Ability to: locate, define, and repair defects in aircraft engines, airframes, and other specialized equipment; maintain records and write reports; maintain parts and equipment inventories; establish and maintain effective relationships with others; read and interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and specifications; assist in training of personnel.
Skill in: use and care of the standard tools and equipment of the trade.
Possession of a current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate; preference will be given to individuals with a valid FAA Inspectors Authorization certificate.
Possession of a valid Florida driver's license is required.
