Plans, organizes, and manages all day-to-day departmental administrative operations, budget planning, development, implementation, and management, revenue and expense management, Visa reconciler, requisition approver, departmental HR liaison, inclusive of position requests, tracking, and processing management, discipline, grievances, risk, safety, and claims management, worker’s comp, and modified duty coordinator. Department asset and cellular phone management, electrical, water, and fleet bill review and management, contract/permit instructor oversight and payment, review and management of grounds maintenance and small equipment repair contracts, T&I and RecTrac coordination, budget activities of the administrative division including staffing, scheduling, revenue and expense management, and work assignments and processes.
Supervises Administrative Division employees including hiring, payroll, training, scheduling, development, evaluation, promotion, and discipline of subordinate supervisory and non-supervisory technical, specialized, administrative, skilled and unskilled staff.
Ensures compliance with applicable risk, safety, maintenance, and/ or programming standards/ requirements for all Departmental Divisions programs, parks, and facilities.
Inspects, evaluates, coordinates and oversees repair, renovation or replacement of vehicles and equipment; publicly speaking on behalf of the department; represents the department as required; maintains contact/relations with other City, State, and Federal agencies to facilitate operations; coordinates efforts with other Divisions to promote efficiency and effectiveness and to reduce duplication of efforts.
Serves as a liaison to and coordinates with outside organizations; attends public meetings;
Prepares reports, spreadsheets, technical specifications, and correspondence.
Prepares plans, manages the department’s budget, responsible for visa reconciliation, and requisition approval.
Develops and implements department policies and procedures.
Performs related work as required.
Comprehensive knowledge of: policies, procedures, principles, practices, techniques current trends, laws, and ordinances relating to job duties and ability to interpret same. Budget planning, requisitioning, cost control, purchasing and procurement, contract development and management, change management as well as administrative, human resources, and risk/claims policies and procedures.
Considerable knowledge of: Asset management principles; fleet management and operations, and safety practices; Union policies and procedures, Cemetery management;
Working knowledge of: park planning and development: program planning; maintenance principles; fees and refund policies and procedures,
Ability to: organize, coordinate, and supervise the work of a large team of professional and technical subordinates; express ideas and information clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; maintain cooperative working relationships with peers, employees, City, State, and Federal officials, and the public.
Strong computer and communication skills including confident public speaking skills.
Mostly sedentary, indoors, requires extended use of
computer, typing and viewing a monitor.
