Facilitate the receipt of complaints based on discrimination that occurred based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, age, disability, familial and marital status or retaliation.
Provide support to a team of investigators responsible for investigating complaints, facilitating settlement negotiations, and drafting determinations for the TOHR Administrator's review.
Conduct intake interviews; gather information to support filing a complaint; draft charges based on the reported allegations in accordance with local, state and federal law, making comparison with legal case summaries and other resource material to determine if there is a prima facie case.
Conduct information searches to identify correct businesses and individuals for service; process signed complaints for case mediation and/or investigation.
Enter coding and retrieve/report case data from Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Integrated Mission Systems (IMS) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Enforcement Management System (HEMS).
Conduct community trainings on civil rights laws and policies; participate in outreach activities to educate and promote civil rights.
Performs related work as required.
Knowledge of: principles and practices of real estate; federal and state guidelines relative to housing assistance programs, local lender underwriting criteria, and state bank statutes that affect leveraging programs.
Working knowledge of: intake and mediation procedures; public speaking and mass communication techniques; civil rights and human relations laws, related court decisions, guidelines, rules, and regulations.
Ability to: communicate effectively with persons of diverse social and economic backgrounds; evaluate information, draw sound conclusions and make appropriate referrals; prepare and submit oral and written reports; maintain accurate records; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, officials, and the public.
