Serves as a liaison between the customer and the City of Tampa regulatory departments; creates a knowledge base of project information to help the customer; creates and adheres to standard operating procedures; develops best practices and tools for project coordination and processing; effectively applies standard methodologies to enforce project standardization.
Coordinates with the appropriate Construction Services Division section supervisors to ensure expeditious plan intake and assignment, expeditious plan review and, timely inspections; facilitates problem resolution with regulatory departments staff to ensure that the project moves through the process with minimal difficulty; facilitates meetings with city staff, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors, as warranted, to resolve site and building project concerns and to ensure overall project coordination, up to and including, the issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy/Certificate of Completion; communicates project expectations to customers and city staff; leads courtesy preliminary evaluation meetings to provide information regarding municipal codes and plan review policies and procedures.
Participates in developing procedures and policies; provides requested information to members of City Council, Variance Review Board and other variance approving boards as instructed; prepares and presents reports as required; keeps informed of ordinances, laws, statutes, etc. that affect the site and building plan review operations; continuously seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction.
Performs related work as required.
Considerable knowledge of: planning tools, city wide and division processes and policies; standard office practices, procedures and equipment; effective customer service techniques; creating and maintaining effective processes and procedures.
Working knowledge of: methods, practices, operational and regulatory policies and procedures, and materials used in building construction; project facilitation procedures; site plans and basic construction drawings.
Ability to: clearly articulate visions and objectives in order to represent the department in meetings with city employees, design professionals and contractors; perform basic mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy; establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, municipal officials, and other employees; work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
