Reviews system designs, specifications and products; recommends changes in pump station equipment and odor control systems; reads atlases and collection system maps; reads blueprints and diagrams; performs operability reviews of collection systems and products; attends pre-construction meetings for pump station additions, expansion and modification.
Monitors, reviews and validates work for quality control assurance of pump station processes, equipment and repair practices; ensure adherence to job related safety practices including high voltage and confined space entry; writes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relating to pump station operations; works with outside vendors and City engineering on pump station equipment, pipe coating and repairs; provides expertise with respect to wide ranging pump station equipment and repair; trains, evaluates and assesses the performance of AWT technicians.
Trouble-shoots complex problems and performs highly-skilled pump station, collection and control systems tasks; gathers and interprets historical data from Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and other sources; compiles, retrieves, analyzes, and compares operational reports; analyzes general instrumentation, electrical, mechanical and operational problems; recognizes and identifies trends in pump stations and control; performs failure and root cause analysis; recommends corrective actions.
Maintains and reviews technical reports, records and library; reads prints and mechanical drawings; conducts research utilizing a wide variety of sources; updates information and changes associated with pump stations; recommends corrective actions based on knowledge of pump station equipment and repair practices and new technologies and products; writes reports to leadership including information on SOPs and work practices reviewed, written or modified.
Performs related work as required.
Advanced knowledge of: pump station and collection systems operations; safety practices and procedures; wide-ranging pump station equipment and repair practices.
Intermediate knowledge of: collection systems and division operations; wide-ranging pump station equipment and repair practices, including control repair; job-related safety practices including high voltage and confined space entry; CMMS and SCADA systems; all types of pumps, valves, level controllers and odor control equipment; the city’s collection system.
Basic knowledge of: equipment used for pump stations, collection systems and odor control systems; general contract provisions; new technologies and products.
Intermediate ability to: read prints, schematics, blueprints and diagrams; read atlases and collection maps; train, evaluate and assess the performance of AWT technicians; analyze general instrumentation, electrical, mechanical and operational problems; recognize and identify trends in pump stations and control systems; perform failure analysis and root cause analysis; update information and changes associated with pump stations.

Accountabilities: 75% of design specification and product reviews done in agreed upon time; provide monthly report to leadership that would include information on SOPs and work practices reviewed, written, or modified; completes all troubleshooting, highly skilled tasks requested by team leaders and provides solutions; provides solutions to problems that work and are agreed upon with related parties; reliability of equipment and operations; long-term plans to address trends, CIPs.
