Reviews system designs, specifications and products; recommends changes in plant power production equipment; reads prints and drawings including one line diagrams; performs operability reviews of processes, products and plant facilities as related to power production equipment, including gas generation and co-generation systems; attends pre-construction meetings for plant additions, expansion and modification.
Monitors, reviews and validates work for quality control assurance of utilization of power production equipment and processes and compliance with standard operating procedures; ensures adherence to job related safety practices including electrical safety; writes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relating to power production equipment; works with outside vendors on power production equipment; provides expertise with respect to utility interfaces; trains, and assesses the performance of AWT technicians.
Trouble-shoots complex problems in power production equipment and systems; performs highly skilled operational tasks and corrects operational and systems control problems; gathers and interprets historical data from Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and other sources; compiles, retrieves, analyzes and compares laboratory and field test results; interprets data and provides recommendations; recognizes and identifies trends in co-generation processes; identifies recurring and complex problems and recommends corrective actions; performs failure and root cause analysis.
Maintains and reviews technical reports, records and library; reads prints, schematics and one line diagrams; conducts research utilizing a wide variety of sources; recommends corrective actions based on knowledge of power processes and new technologies and products; writes reports to leadership including information on SOPs and work practices reviewed, written or modified.
Performs related work as required.
Advanced knowledge of: equipment interface; power production and power processes and standard operating procedures; principles of co-generation systems; utility interfaces; methane gas generation systems; available and new technologies and products.
Intermediate knowledge of: general contract provisions; CMMS and SCADA systems; job-related safety practices including electrical safety; root cause analysis.
Basic knowledge of: time management.
Advanced ability to: read prints and drawings including one line diagrams; conduct research utilizing a wide variety of resources; utilize written communication in an effective manner; compile, retrieve, analyze, and compare laboratory and field test results; gather and interpret historical data from SCADA, CMMS, and other sources; troubleshoot and correct operational and systems control problems; train, evaluate and assess the performance of AWT technicians; recognize and identify trends in co-generation processes.
Advanced skill in: communications.
Intermediate skill in: technical writing; use of computers (Access, Excel, Word, Crystal Report); interpersonal relations.
Desirable: construction knowledge; knowledge of AutoCAD.
Accountabilities: no more than 64 hours of undocumented sick hours used per year; 90% of design specification and product reviews done in agreed upon time; provide monthly report to leadership that would include information on SOPs and work practices reviewed, written, or modified; completes all troubleshooting, highly skilled tasks requested by team leaders and provides solutions; provides solutions to problems that work and are agreed upon with related parties.
Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license.
Employees may be required to work rotating shifts, including
nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed. During periods when the
Mayor issues an emergency declaration for the City of Tampa, all employees may
be required to work in preparation, response or recovery activities related to
the stated emergency.
