Monitors and evaluates work processes for improved maintenance team efficiency; schedules resources for team members growth; maintains continuous forecast of resources and maintenance activities; evaluates performance measures; evaluates work practices.
Checks and verifies deficiencies identified by potential operators utilizing the vehicle check list; determines whether deficiencies discovered warrant immediate correction; instructs operators in vehicle and equipment inspection and recording requirements and procedures.
Coordinates, prioritizes and monitors departmental equipment and vehicle maintenance; monitors service level agreements (SLAs) with Fleet Maintenance division of Public Works; makes recommendations for altering preventive maintenance criteria based on changing operating conditions; revises maintenance schedules to assure sufficient availability of equipment to cover needs; provides monthly vehicle and equipment maintenance plans to teams.
Coordinates vehicle and equipment acquisition with leadership team, team leaders and Purchasing Department; performs research to aid in the preparation, review and /or updating of specifications for equipment acquisition; is responsible for vehicle and equipment budget preparation and monitoring.
Develops effective team members; reinforces and supports the use of business skills, technical and team skills; deals with personnel issues; communicates needs and expectations.
Co-develops, reviews and implements plans and goals; coordinates the work with other teams, support groups and leadership.
Investigates and prepares reports relative to the division on vehicle and equipment accidents resulting in property damage and bodily injury, theft and vandalism; identifies cases of vehicle and equipment abuse and/or neglect; coordinates with Training and Safety Specialist on training needs.
Performs related work as required.
Working knowledge of: the operation and care of vehicles used in the department; equipment scheduling techniques and procedures; the construction, assembly and maintenance requirements of diverse construction vehicles and equipment; specification preparation; equipment and vehicle records keeping and report writing.
Some knowledge of: purchasing procedures; occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions.
Ability to: conduct vehicle and equipment inspections for malfunctions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; prepare clear, accurate and complete reports both orally and in writing.
Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license; a valid Florida Commercial Driver’s License Class “A” with Tanker. Hazmat/Combination (5th wheel) endorsements within 12 months of being employed with the City of Tampa.
Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license; a valid Florida Commercial driver’s license, Class “B” (for SW Only).
