Processes and maintains records of equipment and fixed assets used in solid waste operations; utilizes computer system to generate in-house container numbers, linking container ID numbers to radio frequency identification (RFID) tags/labels and manufacturer serial numbers; enters RFID and serial number information into City’s utility billing software and department’s routing software; enters manufacturer specific data into department’s asset/inventory management system.
Acquires data to complete forms for property control, disposition, finance, transfer of property and grant reimbursement (Compressed Natural Gas/Vehicle Rebate).
Monitors inventory control levels by tracking quantities-on-hand for reordering; updates records of all lost, stolen or damaged items; inventories stock, usage and identifies areas of concern; retrieves safety equipment, supplies and materials; coordinates vending machine electronic reports, sorts data by employee, business unit or division providing data to leadership team; uses Microsoft Access and Excel to maintain control of inventory, track useful life cycle, and total cost of ownership.
Coordinates and participates in physical count of fixed and disposable assets and container shop materials and supplies; participates in City’s Revenue and Finance department property control field audits of equipment, compactors, roll-offs, and front-load containers; uses arithmetic calculations to check/verify and resolve discrepancies between records and physical count and makes corrections within limits of authority.
Responsible for ordering approved supplies, containers and equipment; receipt, verification, storage, issuance, and delivery of various supplies, materials, tools, equipment, and containers; inspects deliveries for defective or incorrect items; handles proper disposal of expired or dated materials; utilizes computer system to access information as account balances and inventory levels.
Coordinates with container maintenance workshop and container delivery teams. Maintains ledgers, spreadsheets, logs, forms and documents required in the control of assets. Performs related work as required.
Some knowledge of: standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment used in the storage and cataloging of items.
Ability to: perform basic mathematical computations; understand and follow oral and written instructions, and maintain simple records; perform work requiring physical exertion; operate a motor vehicle skillfully and safely; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Skill in: computers (MS Access, Excel, Word, reporting software); record keeping; communication.
