Performs manual and semi-skilled laboring tasks related to transportation construction, repair, and maintenance; cuts out streets and driveways; manually excavates, backfills and compacts excavated areas to facilitate repair; asphalt paving and patching repair; core drilling, mixing concrete and installing riser rings and raised pavement markers.
Reads and interprets street maps; properly interprets gauge and meter readings and locates utilities on the job; performs simple measurements.
Completes attendance records and timesheets (KRONOS); prepare and maintain records of work accomplishments.
Place, install and maintain traffic control devices (signs, barricades, cones, barrels, etc.) with guidance; repair existing traffic sign locations as a result of such acts as accidents, vandalism, or weather.
Receive, load and transport materials and equipment to and from job site.
Demonstrate proper use of hand signals for traffic and equipment operations.
Maintain vehicle inspection report; responsible for general safety and cleanliness of work area.
Operates the following: radio, cell phone; paint machine; magnetic utility locators; light to medium automotive work vehicles; kettle; hand and power tools; small equipment such as street grinders, tampers, saws; fire hydrants; air compressors and generators.
Performs related work as required.
Some knowledge of: proper safety practices; measurements; proper use of hand signals for traffic and equipment operations; paving and patching procedures; transportation construction procedures; and communications equipment.

valid Florida Commercial driver’s license, Class "B"
Must successfully complete City MOT Training Class and the City Defensive Driving class.
