Introduction

This is responsible technical work involving the analysis of data integrity and validation.

Nature Of Work

The Fire Public Safety Data Support Technician must have a thorough knowledge of standards and methods of statistics and research techniques used to conduct statistical analysis and determine data integrity. The technician must have the ability to acquire and maintain general knowledge of the Fire & EMS public safety department policy and procedures. The technician must have the ability to acquire competent excellence in the use of departmental computer applications, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), the most current version of Microsoft Office Suite, Record Management System, open source searching and departmental reporting systems to assist in the analysis function. The technician must have the ability to determine pertinent information to extract from Fire and EMS systems and open source to analyze statistical data in order to draw sound conclusions. The technician must have the ability to prioritize and keep accurate and detailed records. The technician must have the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and respectfully, both orally and in writing, with departmental personnel and the public. Appointed position; employee serves at the pleasure of the Mayor.

Examples of Duties

Plans, conducts, and participates in studies of municipal Fire & EMS organization components and their functions in order to design, develop, and recommend improved policies, procedures, organizational structures, work methods, forms, and other tools; develops research methodology and timetables for projects.

Determine improved methods of data collection, coding, sharing, automation methods, and analysis as well as on organizational and operational aspects of agency-based technology for compiling pertain information.

Deliver data integrity, assist with training programs, evaluate response time, and skilled performance in given categories to department supervisors.

Evaluate the effectiveness of the training to ensure the expectations and skills delivered during the training are transferred into the workplace and enabling improvements to performance data integrity.

Prepares and presents written and/or oral reports of findings to supervisor and affected managerial personnel; develops implementation plans and schedules if study recommendations are accepted; trains affected personnel in the use of new systems and procedures; monitors implementation and conducts follow-up studies to determine compliance with new system and evaluate its performance.

Assist with coordinating conversion efforts from Fire & EMS databases into Power Bl.

Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of: Microsoft word, Excel, Emergency Pro patient reporting system, Vector Solution LMS, AS400 CAD system, reviewing patient assessment reports.  The ability to use automated records management systems and standard computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, databases, and email. Statistical methods, research concepts and techniques. Computer techniques, statistical application, and capabilities.

Ability to: develop, prepare and present detailed analytical reports for management use; Develop and deliver training and impart the importance of data integrity to a variety of audiences; learn Summary and Incident based crime reporting procedures and regulations; exercise independent judgment; adapt to changing protocols and shifting priorities in a fast-paced, professional environment; maintain the utmost confidentiality regarding privileged information and remain professional regarding highly sensitive topics.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate’s degree in computer technology, business or public administration, statistics, or a related field with minimum of 3 years of experience working in public safety within a fire and/or EMS based organization; or graduation from an accredited high school and a minimum five (5) years’ experience working in public safety within a fire and/or EMS based organization.

Licenses or Certifications

Certification/license by State of Florida or NREMT as Paramedic. Valid Florida Driver licenses
