Introduction

Employees in this class assist with permitted rental events with City of Tampa Parks and Recreation Department, primarily at the Tampa River Center and Seminole Garden Center.  Employees will assist with the set-up/ breakdown (tables and chairs) for the event, parking, monitoring, and working with permanent City of Tampa employees.  Work is of average difficulty and requires considerable initiative, independent judgment, tact and courtesy.  Must be able to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays. This is an unclassified position. 

Examples of Duties

Assist with opening and closing of facility; ensures the permittee is following the rules and regulations of the facility.

Reviews and assists with the set up or break down of specific floor plans.

Checks assigned area for safety hazards and reports any concerns; analyzes/reviews accident incident and injury reports. 

Respond to permittee inquiries.

Performs related work as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Working knowledge of:  appropriate practices, methods, and techniques of the rules and regulations as related to the event.

Ability to: lift 30 lbs, establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, event promoters, and the general public.  Night and weekend shift availability may be required

Skilled in: verbal and written communications; effective customer service techniques.

Physical Requirements

Mostly standing, recreation and a combination of working indoors and outdoors.  Requires some use of computer, typing and viewing a monitor

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited high school and six (6) months event support experience preferred. 


Licenses or Certifications

Must obtain CPR certification within six (6) months of employment. 


Examination

Evaluation of education and experience. Drug testing is included in all pre-employment processing.
