The Chief of Staff is responsible for coordinating and integrating the efforts of all departments and agencies in the City to implement the programs directed by the Mayor and the policies developed by the City Council. This position has direct supervisory responsibility for the Convention Center and Tourism, Human Resources, Parks and Recreation, Purchasing, and Technology and Innovation Departments as well as the Arts Programs, Intergovernmental Relations and Minority Business Development Divisions and coordination of major events. Work is reviewed by conferences, reports submitted, and results obtained. Appointed position; employee serves at the pleasure of the Mayor. As outlined in the City Charter, the incumbent must reside
within the City of Tampa or be willing to relocate.
Possession of a valid drivers license may be required.
During periods when the Mayor issues an emergency declaration for the City of Tampa, all employees may be required to work in preparation, response or recovery activities related to the stated emergency.
