Conduct
research and analysis on climate and energy best practices, and communicate
that research effectively in memos, staff reports and public presentations.
Coordinates activities to maintain partnerships with community organizations, participate in community events, addressing various issues (i.e. energy efficiency, recycling, stormwater, alternative transportation, renewable clean energy).
Generates interest and support for energy reduction and overall environmental sustainability through presentations and community interactions.
Assists in developing environmental education programs and activities: designs and implements awareness campaigns and other environmental education programs; coordinates with other City departments and staff; provides updates; and resolves concerns.
Manages and creates website content, press releases, blog posts, any social media responsibility, and newsletters.
Performs public relations tasks; represents the department and attends various meetings and events; provides information, answers questions, and makes presentations regarding sustainability programs, goals, issues, and concerns.
Works with Energy Efficiency and Carbon Manager to manage and track energy efficiency and low carbon programs.
Performs related work as required.
Working knowledge of: business English,
spelling, grammar, and arithmetic; methods and techniques related to tree
planting and green stormwater infrastructure; practices and methods of
volunteer engagement.
Ability to: establish and maintain effective working
relationships with city officials, department representatives, members of
community groups, and the general public; write and speak clearly and concisely
in a variety of communication settings; be flexible in dealing with diverse
audiences; observe and record information and incidents; evaluate information,
draw sound conclusions, and prepare and submit oral and written reports;
maintain files and databases.
Skill in: planning, marketing and coordinating volunteer events;
computers, MS Office and various digital technologies; operation of various
parks and facilities maintenance tools.
Graduation from an
accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in environmental science,
public policy or administration, geography, engineering, urban Planning, sustainability,
or related field and 1 year of related work experience in sustainability,
energy, or public policy.
Possession of:
A valid drivers license required.
LEED Green Associate certification is a plus!
Evaluation of education and experience. Drug testing is included in all pre-employment processing.
