Plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs for individuals with disabilities, including arts and culture, sports, fitness, aquatics, social enrichment, leisure education and community integration, and outdoor adventures.
Acts as a lead worker and assists in the assigning of tasks of subordinate personnel assigned to the program; assists the supervisor with identifying training needs and resources; trains assisting staff on program details; explains and demonstrates work procedures; maintains related records and prepares and submits related reports.
Recommend and assist in the development and implementation of program goals and objectives; implement approved policies and procedures. Establish schedules for providing program services. Monitor program performance; evaluate program effectiveness; recommend and implement modifications.
Oversee the registration of program participants; ensure program classes are not over-enrolled and adequately staffed. Assist in the preparation and implementation of educational programs for program participants and their families. Prepare program marketing material, including flyers, schedules of events, pamphlets, and brochures.
Prepare a program budget; monitor and track revenue and expenditures; determine program service delivery levels. Ensure program compliance with City rules, regulations, and standards Develop and implement staff training for the division summer program.
Performs related work as required.
Knowledge of: disability diagnosis; ADA standards, related federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations; effective communication techniques; methods of performing multi-tasks and prioritizing activities.
Ability to: identify and understand multiple disabilities and developmental states; communicate clearly and concisely orally or in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships; communicate with the public and address concerns tactfully and courteously; stoop, kneel, bend and crouch; lift up to 90 pounds.
Skill in: use of standard office equipment and computers, including MS Office.
