Perform vehicle and equipment maintenance (PMs) in the repair shop and in the field for the maintenance yard and treatment plant; operates a transport vehicle (tractor/trailer) as needed to move equipment.
Operate lube truck; provide fuel to crews in the field.
Performs maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment to include electronics, instrumentation, small engines and pumps.
Checks and prepares vehicles and equipment to verify ready for use.
Operates vehicles in order to test or to transport to outside repair facilities; uses hand, bench and testing tools.
Reads, interprets and works from schematics and other technical documents/users manuals; manages repair parts inventory to avoid excessive downtime.
Completes activity reports, vehicle and equipment repair histories/logs.
Performs related work as required.
Knowledge of: methods, tools, equipment, and materials used in equipment and vehicle maintenance and repair; occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions; pumps including centrifugal, well-point, hydraulic and diaphragm; sewer cleaners and CCTV equipment .
Ability to: interpret and work from technical manuals and specifications; locate, define and repair defects in vehicles and equipment; perform work requiring physical strength and dexterity; prepare and submit clear, concise reports both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment.
Skill in: diagnosing problems with vehicles and equipment; use and care of standard tools, equipment and testing devices used in the field; operation of automotive and construction equipment.
Graduation from an accredited high school or vocational school preferably with six (6) months of training in electronics repair and three (3) years of experience in maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
(6) months of heavy equipment transporting experience is desirable.
