Performs field sampling and collection duties; responsible for the documentation of sample receipt and log in procedures; operates a lightweight motor vehicle.
Performs routine equipment maintenance; cleans and prepares sample collection and laboratory equipment; performs calibration and standardization procedures for instrumentation; records and maintains logbooks for laboratory instrumentation, reagents, etc; utilizes the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Prepares and standardizes reagents used for various microbiological and chemical analyses; performs and documents microbiological and chemistry analyses; performs and documents the appropriate quality control and quality assurance procedures.
Performs quality control analyses on treatment chemicals; performs routine jar testing.
Follows appropriate safety and good laboratory practices.
Responds to customer phone calls and inquiries regarding water quality concerns.
Performs related work as required.
Considerable knowledge of: chemical and biological analysis of water; water quality monitoring procedures; occupational hazards, appropriate precautions, and methods of promoting safety.
Working knowledge of: practices, methods, tools, and equipment utilized in laboratory testing analysis of water samples; sampling, testing and analysis techniques.
Ability to: communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; prepare clear and legible reports; input data into the LIMS; operate and maintain laboratory testing and analysis equipment; interpret basic scientific data; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; operate a lightweight motor vehicle.
Skill in: the operation and maintenance of laboratory testing and analysis equipment; use of computer software including Access, Crystal Reports etc.
Evaluation of education and experience. Drug testing is included in all pre-employment processing.
