Nature Of Work
An employee in this class is responsible for performing a variety
of assignments pertinent to analysis of data systems and manual systems for
data processing application. Tasks are of more than average difficulty and
include developing functional specifications, analyzing operational procedures
and production systems, and preparing test data. Although under general
supervision, these employees might engage in independent research and prepare
and present reports of findings. The exercise of reasonable initiative and
independent judgment is required in completing assigned tasks and meeting time
constraints. Considerable tact and courtesy are required of these employees
when serving as user liaison for development and maintenance projects. An
employee in this class may be subject to on-call status on a rotating basis to
provide 24 hour/7 day service. Work is performed on project teams and is
reviewed while in progress and upon completion through documentation prepared
and participation in project team meetings.
Examples of Duties
- Performs an analysis of the current state of an application or system
- Elicits and prioritizes user requirements
- Creates business process flow diagrams
- Analyzes data elements and data flows
- Serves multiple roles as a member of large systems implementation projects
- Troubleshoots issues within existing applications and systems
- Installs updates and patches existing systems
- Creates and performs unit test cases and facilitates user acceptance testing
- Research, evaluate and report on new technology trends as appropriate to the team. Make recommendations to the team on desirable and beneficial additions and developments. Work with other departments and teams to advise on new and existing technology
- Monitors the status of open calls and follow up with customers to ensure service goals are achieved
- Coordinate with other T&I Teams and vendors/contractors in order to complete your job assignments
- Provide written documentation; including reports and technical drawings
- Flexible work hours as needed to support the City’s after hours data network needs
- Writes user documentation and trains users on applications and systems
- Performs related work as required

Ability to:
- Research, respond to and resolve complex questions received
via telephone calls, callbacks, email, help desk software or escalations
- Investigate and resolve Microsoft OS problems, Internet
browser and other Enterprise-wide issues in accordance with current standards
- Assist with administration and troubleshooting MEM
application and program installations enterprise wide as well as specifically
targeted computers (Departments, Teams or individual)
- Maintain patching schedule for servers and workstations
enterprise wide.
- Assist with administration and troubleshooting Windows OSD
deployments including OS upgrades with MEM.
- Coordinate and support technical support processes among
City sites to ensure timely distribution of knowledge and positive impact on
user satisfaction and productivity
- Monitor the status of open work orders for themselves and
their team
- On Call for after-hour support of the City’s various OS
Platforms as needed
- Flexible work hours as needed to support the City’s
after-hours OS Platform needs
- Provide written documentation, including reports and
technical drawings
Skills in:
- Knowledge of IT service
delivery and problem management processes
- Working knowledge for
installing and troubleshooting Microsoft 365 products
- Experience in design, configuring,
and troubleshooting MEM

VMWare products including servers and workstations

common best practices for project management procedures

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and one (1) year of experience in business systems (analyzing data and manual systems for data processing application); or an associate's degree in computer science or a related field and three (3) years of experience in business systems (analyzing data and manual systems for data processing application).
Licenses or Certifications
Possession of a valid drivers license may be required.
Examination
Evaluation of education and experience. Drug testing is included in all pre-employment processing.
Comments
Employees
may be required to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays
and overtime as needed. During periods when the Mayor issues an emergency
declaration for the City of Tampa, all employees may be required to work in
preparation, response or recovery activities related to the stated emergency.
