Maintains, repairs,
monitors, and coordinates the continuous, efficient, and safe operation of the
Technology and Information/CTTV systems, including the video and audio
distribution/recording systems in City Council, and all video and audio
production equipment and systems including video tape recorders, cameras, audio
mixers, test instruments, and television monitors.
Manages and coordinates the
use of the fiber optic network for television broadcast, secure video
conferencing, and teleconferencing; provides fiber optic cable management and
technical support to equipment expositions to maintain technical skills.
Designs,
procures, installs, and maintains video and audio production system,
post-production system, and automated playback system.
Formulates technical
requirements and prepares bid specifications for radio frequency transmission
systems, video and audio systems, and the fiber optic local network. May consult
with other city departments to design broadband distribution audio and video
systems.
Maintains on-going monitoring of contracts to ensure compliance with city regulations or requirements. Coordinates vehicle maintenance and repair with the Fleet Maintenance Division.
Performs
related work as required.
Considerable knowledge of: operating theory of video systems, including analog and digital signals; broadband RF cable television distribution, including headend signal reception and processing and subsequent distribution; remote and automated broadcast playback systems; AC/DC power distribution, including line power, use of stand-alone generators, and power conditioning; satellite earth stations; fiber optic systems, including FM, AM, and digital; audio systems, including PA, wireless multitrack, studio recording, and conferencing; and FCC rules and regulations concerning cable television, microwave, and broadcast.
Working knowledge of:
specialized test equipment (spectrum analyzer, field strength meters,
vectorscopes and waveform monitors, oscilloscope, volt meters, optical time
domain reflectometer); erection of microwave antennas and towers; design and
installation of remote production vehicles; design of production facilities,
control rooms, and television studios; design and installation of fiber optic
distribution systems and related systems; and the design of computer LANS for
digital video and audio.
Ability to: design, maintain, operate, and install technical broadcast
equipment; read, interpret and apply engineering data; install cameras, video
recorders and integrate into existing systems; calibrate cameras, switchers, video/audio
recorders, video and audio amplifiers, and microwave systems; design, maintain
and install fiber optic, or VoIP equipment for broadcast and video conferences;
establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; train/
oversee television production equipment operators.
Evaluation of education and experience. Drug testing is included in all pre-employment processing.
