Reviews system designs, specifications and products; recommends changes in plant electrical systems; reads prints and electrical drawings including one-line diagrams; performs operability reviews of processes, products and plant facilities as related to electrical systems, including distribution systems, generators, transformers, motor control centers, switchgear, variable frequency drives, motors and wiring; attends pre-construction meetings for plant additions, expansion and modification; provides input for budget and assists with Capital Improvement Projects (CIPs).
Monitors, reviews and validates work for quality control assurance of wide-ranging electrical repair and equipment; ensures adherence to job related safety practices including work on 15 kV systems; writes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relating to electrical repair practices and working with high voltage; works with outside vendors on electrical equipment repairs and power supply interfaces; provides expertise with respect to electrical systems, including distribution systems, generators, transformers, motor control centers, switchgear, variable frequency drives, motors and wiring and wide-ranging electrical repairs; trains, evaluates and assesses the performance of AWT technicians.
Trouble-shoots complex problems and performs highly-skilled electrical tasks; gathers and interprets historical data from Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system (SCADA), Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and other sources; compiles, retrieves, analyzes, and compares power usage reports, transformer oil sample reports and thermographic reports; identifies recurring and complex problems and recommends corrective actions; recognizes and identifies trends in electrical systems; performs failure and root cause analysis.
Maintains and reviews technical reports, records and library; reads prints, schematics and one-line diagrams; conducts research utilizing a wide variety of sources; recommends corrective actions based on knowledge of wide-ranging electrical repair practices and new technologies and products; writes reports to leadership including information on SOPs and work practices reviewed, written or modified.
Performs related work as required.
Advanced knowledge of: electrical systems; electrical products; electrical system equipment and power supply interfaces; wide-ranging electrical repair practices; job-related electrical safety practices including high voltage; all types of electrical distribution systems, generators, transformers, motor control centers, switchgear, variable frequency drives, motors and wiring.
Intermediate knowledge of: CMMS and SCADA systems; new technologies and products.
Basic knowledge of: plant operations; time management; general contract provisions; root cause analysis; AutoCAD.
Advanced ability to: read prints and electrical drawings including one-line diagrams and schematics.
Intermediate ability to: train, evaluate and assess the performance of AWT technicians; compile, retrieve, analyze, and compare power usage reports, oil sample reports and thermographic reports; gather and interpret historical data from SCADA, CMMS, and other sources; recognize and identify trends in electrical systems.
Basic ability to: conduct research utilizing a wide variety of sources; utilize written communications in an effective manner.
Intermediate skill in: technical writing; use of computers (Access, Excel, Word, Crystal Report).
Basic skill in: construction; plant operations. AutoCAD; communications; interpersonal relations.
Desirable: knowledge of operations process.
Accountabilities: no more than “x” hours of undocumented sick hours used per year; “x”% of design specification and product reviews done on agreed upon time; provide monthly report to leadership that would include information on SOPs and work practices reviewed, written, or modified; completes all troubleshooting, high skilled tasks requested by team leaders and provides solutions; provides solutions to problems that work and are agreed upon with related parties.
Evaluation of education and experience. Drug testing is included in all pre-employment processing.
