The City of Tucson's Environmental & General Services Department (EGSD) has a career opportunity for a dedicated, dependable and highly skilled Trade Specialist. Job assignments will include but are not limited to trimming/removal of trees, shrubs, removal of illegal dumping items, abatements, homeless camp clean up, repairing irrigation, painting, and maintaining City building grounds.
Installs, maintains, and repairs equipment at City facilities, including playground equipment, chlorination systems, and plumbing and irrigation systems. Transplants, prunes, and shapes trees and shrubs.
***This position will require directing inmates and the successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain an approved background check from the Arizona Department of Corrections.***
Minimum Education Level & Type: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 2 years of experience in pruning, trimming, transplanting, and treating trees and shrubs, or installing and maintaining irrigation systems, or maintaining and repairing facilities and equipment, or maintaining pools and aquatics equipment.
Valid and Unrestricted Class D - Driver's License
Valid and Unrestricted CDL - Class B required for Aquatics Maintenance Specialists, Construction Maintenance Specialists, and Tree Stewards based on weight of vehicle and/or the transportation of HazMat.

A current City of Tucson employee who does not have the required license may be conditionally selected and provided written instructions that they must obtain the required license and endorsement within 60 calendar days of the conditional selection in order to be eligible for the actual promotion. Failure to obtain the required license and endorsement within this time frame will result in the removal of the conditional selection offer.***

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the responses to their supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will then be invited to participate in an oral board interview.
Oral Board interviews will take place on: June 5, 2019
Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on an Eligibility List. An applicant's ranking on the list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:

The list may be used by any City department with an approved vacancy to fill in the next 6 months.
This recruitment will establish a civil service list that will be utilized to fill vacancies occurring within the next 6 months.
Veterans, Native American, or Disability preference points will be added to the final score for those that are placed on the Civil Service Employment List. If you qualify for preference points as outlined in the Employment Profile, you must hand deliver your documentation to the oral board. The DD 214 must be a copy that indicates characterization of service.
