The Planning and Engineering Division of the Tucson Water Department is seeking multiple, qualified, and motivated Senior Engineering Technicians (SET) to join the Plant Design and Distribution Design Sections of the Utility.
The Plant Design position is primarily engaged in computer-aided drafting layout and drafting support for Civil Engineers and Engineering Associates. The Distribution Design position involves a combination of project database maintenance, utility research and coordination, and use of computer-aided drafting software.
Tucson Water Senior Engineering Technicians are senior positions with design experience that include proficiency in creating and working with grading, drainage, water, sewer, utilities and roadway plans. Autodesk AutoCAD Civil3D is the primary software utilized for creation and revisions of the engineering plans.
Senior Engineering Technicians conduct research, interpret engineering plans, survey records and other documents, and provide information to the public and staff personnel.
Tucson Water SET's are responsible for the following:
Minimum Education Level & Type: Associate's Degree
Minimum Experience Qualifications: At least 2 years computer-aided drafting, geographic information systems, or in collecting, analyzing or processing field samples and data
Valid and Unrestricted D - Driver's License
An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the ability to successfully perform the essential functions may be considered
The ideal candidates will possess the above minimum qualifications as well as have relevant experience in the areas of:
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be evaluated on the education and work experience in their employment profile and the responses to their supplemental questions. The highest scoring applicants will then be invited to participate in a Hands-On AutoCAD practical examination.
Upon completion of all examination processes, the highest scoring applicants will be placed on the Civil Service Employment List. An applicant's ranking on the Civil Service list will be based on their final score which will be calculated as:
Selection interviews may be conducted post-list by each hiring manager. This recruitment will establish a civil service list that may be utilized to fill vacancies at Tucson Water occurring within the next 6 months.
Veterans, Native American, or Disability preference points will be added to the final score for those that are placed on the Civil Service Employment List.
