Deputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.
The Delaware Department of Justice, Criminal
Division, is seeking a Legal Administrative Specialist to provide direct
administrative and clerical support to the State Prosecutor, who oversees adult
criminal prosecutions across New Castle, Kent, and Sussex counties. Although
this Legal Administrative Specialist position carries statewide
responsibilities, it is based out of New Castle County.
Reviews legal documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Gather data on case activities, filings, deadlines, hearings, and dispositions for inclusion in monthly legal performance reports. Coordinates travel arrangements, training registrations, and logistics for the Criminal Division. Maintains and organizes case files, both physical and electronic, ensuring timely filing and retrieval. Assist attorneys in preparing and submitting budget requests for specific case-related expenses, training, or resources. Serve as a point of contact with the fiscal department to verify status of submitted requests and resolve discrepancies. Respond swiftly to internal and external communications, and assist with other secretarial support duties as assigned. This Legal Administrative Specialist will have daily contact with all Criminal Justice and State government stakeholders. Liaises with the Attorney General’s executive staff, including the Chief Deputy Attorney General, the Chief of Staff, Director of Human Resources, and Fiscal Controller on high-level projects, communications and administrative priorities.
Responsibilities include monitoring U Visa petitions (Form I-918 and related forms) for the State Prosecutor’s approval by creating case files and tracking application process. Coordinating operational logistics for the SLEAF Council (“Special Law Enforcement Assistance Funds”) by coordinating dates, times, and venues for meetings, drafting agendas and distributing meeting packets, including minutes, reports, and background materials. Act as a liaison between council members, legal staff, and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and timely updates. Record accurate and detailed minutes of meetings, track action items, and circulate final notes for review and approval. Organize documentation related to council decisions, membership, bylaws, and historical records in compliance with record-keeping policies.
