Loudoun County's Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure is currently seeking a talented, highly-motivated individual to to fill the position of Senior Transportation Planner – Travel Demand Modeling. This position will be responsible for applying analytical planning concepts and transportation planning/engineering principles in the use of computer software for modeling short-term and long-term traffic and analysis of levels of service for particular intersections and/or roadway corridors. This position also provides support to the Transportation Planning and Policy team by reviewing legislative and ministerial land development applications and providing accurate and concise transportation referrals for use by staff, the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors; and provides prompt, informative and courteous customer service to inquiries received by the department. Position works closely with various County departments, County Administration, and the Board of Supervisors on matters pertaining to transportation related issues and projects. The successful candidate should be a team player with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and possess the ability the share innovative ideas, creative problem solving, and awareness of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices related to transportation planning.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning or a related field plus 2 years of experience in civil engineering, transportation planning or a related field.
Required skills include: Proficiency with travel demand software (Cube/Voyager, TP+, TransCad). Proficiency with operational software (HCS, Synchro) and GIS.
Successful completion of a criminal background check, to include a driving record check.
