We have immediate openings for year round Outdoor Maintenance Technicians located throughout the county. The Maintenance division provides support to multiple areas within the department such as mowing, ballfield maintenance and renovation, equipment repairs, facility maintenance, emergency response, special event support and special projects. As a Maintenance Technician your skills will be used to perform general grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming and trash removal, athletic field preparation for daily use, tournaments and special events, turf management and trail and woodland maintenance. Your general maintenance skills will be used during all seasons of the year on indoor and outdoor maintenance tasks such as general painting and carpentry, inspection of buildings, facilities and grounds, preparation and breakdown for special events and snow removal during the winter months at various sites throughout assigned areas. Basic mechanical skills are needed to operate and perform preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, vehicles and tools necessary to complete tasks. You will respond to routine inquires and complaints and assist with record keeping. Moderate physical effort, including lifting, will be required. A Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred for all positions, with some positions requiring a Class A CDL. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule which will vary and include early mornings and evenings, weekend hours required as well. This position is subject to call for "Essential 24 hour operations".
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to High School Diploma with 2 years job related experience in grounds maintenance and/or field preparations with graduation from a technical school preferred.
Valid Driver’s License required. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class A with passenger endorsement preferred. First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain certification within 4 months required, CPR certification preferred. Licensed as a Pesticide Registered Technician in the Commonwealth of Virginia is preferred; OSHA certification as a forklift operator preferred; Membership in Virginia Recreation and Park Society preferred; certified as a Playground Inspector by the National Playground Safety Institute is preferred. The CDL incumbent of this position must comply with the Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Program as outlined by Loudoun County's Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees.
