The Loudoun County Department of Community Corrections is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Full-Time Pretrial Evaluator. This position is responsible for conducting interviews on incarcerated criminal defendants to determine suitability for pretrial release. The successful applicant will be required to assist indigent defendants with their request for court appointed counsel, conduct risk assessments and prepare Court reports that include recommendations regarding release. The position further requires the ability to testify before the Court, conduct pretrial supervision intakes and provide case management of pretrial defendants as needed. Work schedule is Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and alternating Sundays, as scheduled.
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or related field. Prefer six months related work experience. Ability to speak Spanish also preferred.
Position requires the ability to work in a jail setting and willingness to interview criminal defendants, some who have a history of violent behavior. Must collect urine specimens and coordinate the testing for illegal substances. VCIN certification is required or selected candidate must obtain within 90 days of employment.
