Function


The primary responsibilities of this position is to haul gravel from the rock quarries and spoils to the landfills for all four Zones. Will be operating a dump truck and a front-end loader on a daily basis.

Summary

An employee in this class is responsible for loading and hauling construction materials and spoils, equipment and supplies; May operate light, medium and heavy equipment; uses hand tools and small powered equipment, operates trucks and trailers and safely loads and unloads heavy equipment, materials and supplies. This position also makes sure necessary and assigned tools and equipment are available and in good operating condition each day.  Assists team members with other tasks complies with safety rules and regulations, including OSHA, to avoid accidents and keep work place safe for employees and private citizens.  Work performed must meet quality/production standards. 

The person in this position may also be required to work occasional overtime and various hours.  

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Operates trucks, trailers, backhoe/loader and safely loads and unloads heavy equipment, materials and supplies
Uses hand tools and small powered equipment 
Insures necessary and assigned tools/equipment are available and in good operating condition each day 
Performs work to meet safety regulations and quality/production standards 
Must be available to work occasional overtime and flexible hours, if needed 
Must have experience operating dump truck  
Must have the ability to lift up to 90 lbs. 
Must be able to climb and walk on rough terrain and climb 
Must have good hand and eye coordination 
Must have the ability to perform work under difficult weather and environmental conditions

Skilled in the operation of light to heavy equipment such as: backhoe/loaders, trucks, trailers, etc.  properly use and care for basic hand tools and small powered equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Able to lift, push and pull up to 90 pounds.
Ability to climb and walk on rough terrain
Must have good hand & eye coordination.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  
Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs. Requires working, at times, in confined spaces; working overtime and on various shifts; responding to emergencies; and being on-call.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Graduate or Equivalent 
Minimum of one year experience operating a dump truck and front-end loader, heavy equipment

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
Possession of a valid Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL)
Ability to obtain a City Driving Permit

Conditions of Employment
