This position is responsible for installation and maintenance of various traffic control devices with a focus on Pavement Markings. Position assists crews in the installation, maintenance, or repair of pavement markings. Work involves heavy manual labor. This position works primarily in the Pavement Markings Section, however if needed, may be assigned work in other sections or on specialized projects.

1. Install and maintain pavement markings.
2. Operate a variety of specialized pavement marking tools and equipment.
3. Load and unload materials, supplies, and equipment.
4. Ensure all related Pavement Markings tasks are completed correctly and efficiently.
5. Maintain detailed work records including maintenance, inventory, and vehicle inspections forms, daily work logs and other documentation.
6. Set up temporary traffic control, safety cones and signs according to the CDOT WATCH handbook, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and specialized training.
7. Maintain a safe work environment by following appropriate procedures, utilizing personal protective equipment and recognizing and reporting unsafe conditions and actions.
8. Perform related work as required.

• Ability to read and write; including follow blueprints that are provided.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• General knowledge of methods, practices, procedures, work hazards and equipment used in the maintenance of traffic control devices and construction.
• Ability to solve problems related to the installation and maintenance of pavement markings with limited supervision from Field Operations Supervisor.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, sometimes under unfavorable weather conditions.
• Ability to work on a team, or lead crews, for various types of traffic projects.
• Ability to read and interpret prints provided by traffic engineers
• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and standard practices for the installation, operation and maintenance of traffic control systems
• Knowledge on the MUTCD
• Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions involved with working in and around heavy vehicle traffic.

Physical Requirements:
• Sitting, Standing, Bending, Twisting, Reaching, Kneeling, Squatting, Crawling, Climbing (10 ft.)
• Walking (3 miles)
• Lifting (3 ft., 20-100 lbs.)
• Shoveling (3ft., 20-25 lbs.)
• Pushing/Pulling, Carrying (20 ft., 2-90 lbs.)
• Driving approx. 50 miles daily
• Work outside exposed to all weather conditions, chemicals, fumes, solvents, slippery/uneven surfaces, machinery, moving object/vehicles, and excessive noise.
• May climb ladders, work on slippery and uneven surfaces, work in confined spaces, and use vibrating machinery or tools.
• Work in traffic; walk in and around moving vehicles and equipment.
• Work involves sitting periodically, including riding in vehicle, attending trainings and meetings, or during use of office equipment such as computer for administrative tasks

• Preferred candidate has, or has ability to obtain, a CDL A license or permit within one-year of hire.
• Experience with work hazards, work zones, safety precautions, 811 Locates procedures, OSHA regulations, ground construction, specialized equipment and hand tools, traffic signal control, wires, communication, read and interpreting prints, and traffic systems is preferred.
• Computer experience preferred; including but not limited to typing, word documents, spreadsheets, and work order management system.
• Experience in routine maintenance on specialized Pavement Marking equipment is a plus.

High School Graduate or Equivalent

$35,550.00 - $46, 660.00/ Year; Commensurate with experience.
