Summary
The Center for Digital Government named Charlotte one of the top five digital cities in the nation. The City of Charlotte's Innovation & Technology department (I&T) provides executive-level leadership, delivers technology services to city departments and partnership agencies, and coordinates information technology initiatives across the organization to support, enhance and advance citizen service delivery.
The Network Engineer position works at the direction of the Aviation Technology Infrastructure Manager in installing, configuring, monitoring, and the security of network equipment throughout multiple networks and network platforms at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Install network switches into various locations
• Configure network switches & related ports
• Configure wireless access points based at pre-determined locations for maximum coverage
• Monitor network switches & related devices for availability to system users and/or equipment failures
• Troubleshoots problems
• Provide support for end-user network problems
• Responds to TechHelp calls & communicates verbally with customers resolving issues
• Updates work orders with clear resolution steps
• Utilizes Visio & other diagraming software for documentation
• Works with cabling technicians ensuring connectivity available & redundancy in place
• Adheres to all established policies / processes / procedures
• This position requires flexible hours, availability for all shifts and is subject to call back and work hour adjustments based on workload and customer needs.

Preferred Qualification
• Bachelor's degree with one year of relevant work experience
• Extreme Certified Network Associate or CCNA certification
Minimum Qualifications
Requires an Associate’s degree in Computer Science with three (3) years of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential job duties.
Salary
$75,018 - $93,772 Commensurate with Experience
