Summary

The Center for Digital Government named Charlotte one of the top five digital cities in the nation. The City of Charlotte's Innovation & Technology department (I&T) provides executive-level leadership, delivers technology services to city departments and partnership agencies, and coordinates information technology initiatives across the organization to support, enhance and advance citizen service delivery.

The IT Asset Administrator will effectively manage IT assets throughout each phase of their lifecycle - acquisition through retirement. In addition, they will help to reduce the total cost of ownership and increase the return on investment for IT assets. They will be responsible for running reports using a variety of discovery tools and comparing the data to effective licensing position documents to ensure compliance with all contractual agreements. This position will also be responsible for coordinating IT asset purchases with the IT Finance department.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Vetting of hardware request tickets and engaging departmental contacts when necessary
Maintaining device inventory at all City sites and assisting with departmental device needs
Maintaining the Cherwell CMDB asset upload process for purchased devices and ensuring accuracy of data
Creating exception reporting through Cherwell CMDB to remediate errors or inaccuracies
Preparing reports for Dispatch Services using Excel and CMDB for device refresh
Collaborating with various departments to prepare bulk hardware orders
Obtain various hardware quotes for purchase
Ensuring ordered devices are received and reconciled with invoicing for payment and that the CMDB and financial system are updated.
Tracking and escalating orders with Vendors
Tracking loaned devices in the CMDB and coordinating hardware returns/warranty repairs with Vendors/Field Services
Maintaining standard device data and training decks for business and Dispatch Services
Developing and reporting on Refresh cycles for all hardware types. 
Responsible for creating departmental asset reports.
Coordinate with the onsite Dispatch Services technicians to ensure asset records are properly updated when they are received, inventoried, deployed, loaned, and retired.
Manage the technology surplus program to ensure devices are properly disposed of. 
Manage tickets related to employee management specifically processes around the onboarding and offboarding of employees/contractors/vendors and their associated equipment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Able to conduct and interpret quantitative or qualitative analysis of large data sets related to technology assets
Must exhibit superior customer service and a commitment to teamwork
Must have excellent written and strong verbal/interpersonal communication skills
Independent in work ethic and thought process, seeking supervision or direction as needed 
Positive attitude and strong team player with an ability to partner with others
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel to track costs and expenses using equations and computation features as well as the ability to create formulas and produce reports using large data sets.
Familiarity with a fast-paced Information Technology and/or Retail environment
Strong technical and analytical skills, and can interpret vendor licensing terms and conditions 
Continuous improvement attitude - able to seek out and implement leading ITAM practices
2 - 4 years of IT licensing audit and/or contract renewals experience
2 - 4 years working in ITAM and/or financial experience in a large organization
2 - 4 years working in a fast-paced Information Technology environment
2 – 4 years of managing large-scale technology deployments
2 – 4 years managing technology asset records and CMDB data or other large data sets

Preferred Qualification

4+ years of IT licensing audit and/or contract renewals experience
4+ years working in ITAM and/or financial experience in a large organization
4+ years working in a fast-paced Information Technology environment
4+ years of managing large-scale technology deployments
4+ years managing technology asset records and CMDB data or other large data sets

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems and/or Computer Science or relevant work experience.

Salary

$86,843 - $108,552 Commensurate with Experience

Conditions of Employment

The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes, but is not limited to: reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.
