Summary
This position is part of the Storm Water Services Strategic Planning Team and is primarily responsible for ensuring that accurate and complete GIS data represents our storm water system. This position performs technical work related to the development and maintenance of large-scale GIS databases within an ArcSDE environment, and associated functions. The candidate will be proficient with the ArcGIS editing, georeferencing and spatial adjustment tools, and editing in an SDE multi-user database.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee work assignments and quality and provide instruction to GIS Technicians.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of data and adherence with established standards.
- Create and manage service requests and work orders in Cityworks system.
- Create and/or update reports related to GIS and Cityworks.
- Input and edit data on stormwater assets in a versioned GIS enterprise database.
- Analyze and interpret civil construction plans, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Prepare cartographic exhibits.
- Develop, document, and maintain GIS and other technical procedures.
- Develop models and/or scripts to automate data analysis and/or creation.
- Perform database analyses and queries to identify patterns and relationships and document results.
- Support collection of storm drainage infrastructure in the field.
- Research technologies that provide improved geospatial solutions.
- Provide support to internal and external customers.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency with the ESRI ArcGIS 10.x Desktop software suite, and general GIS principles and concepts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with Cityworks or other work and asset management system.
- Strong understanding of storm water systems and terminology.
- Ability to interpret construction plans and technical drawings.
- Ability to prioritize, plan, coordinate, and support simultaneous tasks and GIS projects.
- Experience with basic programming and query writing for data mining and process automation.
- Excellent spatial ability and attention to detail.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, departments, City officials and the public.

- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions and physically able to lift up to 50 lbs., walk at least two (2) miles per day (sometimes on rough terrain), stoop, bend, and climb.
Preferred Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related field and one (1) year of relevant experience.
- Experience with the ESRI ArcGIS suite of products (ArcMap, ArcPro, ArcEditor, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolBox), and ArcSDE server environment.
- Development experience with SDE, SQL Server, Python, ModelBuilder, or VB.NET.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Geography, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related field, and three (3) years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential job duties.
Salary
$62,952 - $78,690 Commensurate With Experience
