Charlotte Douglas International Airport is the 5th busiest airport in the U.S. and is currently undergoing a multi-million-dollar expansion to accommodate tremendous growth. The airport is also a hub city for American Airlines.
Function
This position supports all aspects of the concessions program, vetting and making recommendations for additional opportunities with the goal of maximizing airport concession revenues, while providing added amenities for airport customers.
Summary
The Concessions Program Specialist will report to the Tenant Service Coordinator and shall be responsible for oversight and support of contract(s) associated with the Airport’s Concessions Program, which generates over $60 million in annual net revenue to the Airport.
The Concessions Program includes Food & Beverage, Retail & Passenger Services, Non-Airline Lounges, On-Property Advertising, and other revenue generating passenger amenities.
Standard office hours apply, however schedule subject to irregular hours, overtime, and emergency calls back to work. Some job functions may be done through telework; however primary job functions require in-person/on-site work.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
This position will offer support as needed and as assigned for all concession agreements on airport property. Areas include, but are not limited to:
• Serve as point of contact between the tenant and Airport Maintenance/Facilities to assist in resolving issues specific to concessions.
• Monitor and provide oversight to ensure contract compliance specific to preventative maintenance and routine inspections for areas including, but not limited to, cooking oil tanks, grease interceptors, A/C issues, electrical issues, pest control, housekeeping, kitchen inspections, etc.
• Serve as the concessions team's point of contact for "special event" requests from the concessionaires such as sidewalk sales, sampling events, promotions, venue grand openings, etc.
• Serve as primary point of contact for concession-specific community engagement outreach functions including job fairs, food donation program, Treats for Troops, Restaurant Month, etc.
• Maintain concession specific performance reports including certified annual revenue statements, monthly revenue statements, gross sales, concession fees, usage reports, transaction reports, etc. Create and maintain various spreadsheets and dashboards to easily capture and monitor contract performance year over year, and to ultimately measure and gauge performance success. This includes revenue reports, usage reports, sales reports, etc.
• Initiate and track Internal Modification Agreements and Tenant Modification Agreements, as needed. Seek internal approvals necessary and attend weekly review meetings.
• Serve as a point of contact for companies, businesses and organizations that currently do, or are interested in doing business with the Airport that would result in additional revenue and/or amenities to passengers.
• Participate in concessions related solicitation processes and miscellaneous research.
• Coordinate activities between the Airport’s Business Intelligence Team and concessions operators to monitor and track performance indicators to ensure concessionaires are delivering an exceptional customer experience.
• Remain up to speed on all construction projects to be better able to communicate changes and impacts to locations and identify potential/additional revenue generating opportunities.
• Receive, review, disperse, and close customer comments related to the concession program obtained through City Works
• Support the Concessions Team by performing other tasks as assigned.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into operational requirements.
• Understanding of City contracting processes and systems.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to learn Airport processes and ask appropriate questions.
• Enthusiasm and willingness to participate and work well in a team environment.
• Ability to work safely and securely in public areas with the situational awareness.
• Ability to quickly develop rapport with other departments and divisions.
• Must be able to work irregular hours and shifts as needed.
• Position must be able to maintain airport security clearance.
Preferred Qualification
Preferred experience in airport property management and/or contract administration; or tenant property management with an emphasis on concession/services operations or three years of general airport experience.
Aviation industry experience highly preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma (or GED equivalent) plus 7 years' experience; OR associate degree plus 5 years' experience; OR bachelor’s degree plus 3 years' experience; OR master’s degree plus 1 year of experience.
