Overview

Function

The Business Intelligence Manager fosters a data driven culture for the Airport by working with internal and external stakeholders to identify, collect, analyze, and report data for strategic decision making.

Summary

This role leads a team of analysts to conduct research of business needs, available data and systems, and gaps to support the goals of safe and efficient operations, increased revenue production and savings, and enhanced passenger satisfaction. This role requires collaboration, managing multiple priorities, and strong interpersonal skills.  The successful candidate should also exhibit traits of inclusivity, creativity, detail and big picture navigation, and the ability to promote CLT in a positive manner. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee a wide range of analysis activities including research, development, and testing. 
• Responsible for overseeing staff and consultants who may be performing related tasks.
• Lead teams of external contractors and internal resources, managing contract performance and deliverables. 
• Assists the Aviation Department in determining business opportunities from data reports and assists in determining ways to implement those opportunities based on available market solutions.
• Collects and interprets various available airport and passenger data from existing and future airport data feeds (i.e. wait-time technology, website and app data, passenger satisfaction survey data, Intersection Marketing, Apple Indoor Positioning, monthly airline activity, parking system data, stakeholder reports, rental car reports, etc).
• Designs and prepares documentation for qualitative and quantitative available tenant data analysis including:
-Develop queries and quality metrics.
-Interprets results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation to more complex statistical analysis.
-Design, implement, and manage complex databases.
-Completes data cleaning and organizes data files for analysis.
-Reviews data and identifies quality issues.

-Analyzes and develop standardized templates, policies, business processes and procedures for internal and external reporting.
• Discusses and presents findings with pertinent managers and stakeholders (i.e. airport tenants, leadership team, etc.) in an appropriate manner. 
• Responsible for the oversight, coordination and delivery of projects of differing sizes involving the developing and launch of new data involved projects.
• Facilitates collaborative communication across relevant departments.
• Facilitates training for various business intelligence tools for frequent users.
• Experience managing data warehouse and reporting infrastructure to help scale reporting needs while maintaining a high-performance environment for reporting.
• Understanding of reporting and business intelligence best practices and trends.
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of data governance best practices.
• The ability to apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of industry best practices to guide direct reports.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Medium to advanced proficiency in SQL
• Tableau proficiency required
• Programming preferably in scripting language used for data analysis 
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Utilization of data analysis and visualization libraries
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills
• Excellent customer facing skills 

Preferred Qualification

The preferred candidate would have at least 2 years of data analysis/report writing, or similar experience. Experience in the Aviation industry would be ideal.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree and nine years of relevant work experience

OR

Bachelor's Degree and seven years of relevant work experience

OR

Master's Degree and five years of relevant work experience

Conditions of Employment

The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes, but is not limited to: reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.
