The Field Communications Supervisor/Radio Fleet Supervisor (TCII-FC) will
supervise the Charlotte Fire Communications Field Communications team personnel
and assets. Supervise the radio fleet (mobiles, portables, accessories, and
programming) for the Charlotte Fire Department (CFD). Primary internal POC
& Liaison for technology needs of the Divisions (CAD, Phone, Radio,
Everbridge, Public Safety I&T). Primary internal POC & Liaison for TF-3
USAR Team, CFD Special Operations, Charlotte Mecklenburg Emergency Management
Office (CMEMO) ESF-2 Leader, UASI Regional Communications Committee as well as
the North Carolina Emergency Management (NCEM) ESF-2 team.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND SCHEDULE:
The Communications Division operates on a 24x7 365-day basis. This position is an hourly, 40-hour work week schedule with flexible start and end times based on workload and job tasks.

Concentrated and attentive use of one or more senses (visual, audio, and other sensory modalities) for proofreading, data entry, and tabulating data.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an indoor environment with moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions, moderate exposure to environmental conditions and frequent exposure to computer screens, files, and phone.
The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes, but is not limited to: reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.

The checks must be consistent with the guidelines set forth by these laws requiring organizations to obtain a candidate’s written authorization before obtaining a criminal background report, motor vehicle records check or credit report; and to properly store and dispose of information derived from such reports.
Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test, and/or participate in other assessments.
